II. BUSINESS

1-Approve Minutes from Previous Meeting. Approved 2-Digital Filter Presentation

There was discussion about the options. The SCC had a consensus for Option #1. We voted to keep ithe current restrictions. There was discussion about some possibilities which will be added with our vote.

SCC Digital Connections Comments and Additional information:

Oak Hollow Elementary:

1. The district can put together an acceptable list of sites. Can’t that be done instead of restrictions? You mentioned a whitelist. Do we have a current whitelist and what sites are approved?

  1. It seems that the concerns come from searches on Google. Can’t Google searches be turned off at the elementary level?
  2. Some members said they would be open to Option #3 if a whitelist of sites were included……( Lexia, Dreambox etc.)
  3. We would like to see a “no webcam” restriction added.
  4. Considerations about teaching digital citizenship appropriately in the elementary without restricting everything.
  5. We are seeing more students try to access “unblocked games” or “unblocked music”, but Content Keeper is catching this.
  6. Teachers are concerned with the increased workload if more restrictions are put in place or if they must specially create work for students who are not using Chromebooks.
  7. We felt like we needed more information. What does “highly restrictive mean?” Will students be able to access Wonders of Envision online with the restrictive setting? 3-Meeting schedule and membership

III. CONCLUSION – WE WILL MEET IN MAY IF THE SCHOOL BOARD REVIEWS THE DIGITAL CONNECTIONS INPUT AND MAKES A DECISION.

**Note (5/19/2025): There was no May 2025 meeting necessary.
